The Maurella mineral water springs, located in the territory of the Municipality of Calizzano in the province of Savona, spring from the Maritime Alps, in an uncontaminated beech forest, at a height of about 1080 meters above sea level. For centuries it was in the general conviction of the farmers that the use of this water aroused the appetite and cured of gastricism. It was also described as very fresh, very light and diuretic. A first chemical analysis of the water was carried out in October 1908 in a laboratory in Genoa, from which the total absence of nitrites and ammonia compounds was found. The report on this analysis concluded with these textual words: “Apart from the judgment that can be brought on it by bacterioscopic examination, the chemical analysis places it among the best table waters”.
